This is one of my favorite of these natural areas that are scattered among south Florida, primarily because there are hills. It’s nutty. That feature makes this area a little more unique. There’s also a healthy gopher tortoise population so I like that shit. You walk down a hill and see torts scurrying about. There are a few ways you can weave through the flatwoods on trails that go across and over the terrain. They are natural trails, aside from some paved portions by the covered observation areas, but it’s primarily dirt and sand trails through palms, oaks, and cacti. Nothing too crazy, but it’s a nice walk and I enjoyed it. Would go again. Would make a special trip.
